Duration

Purpose

To ensure that:

  1. First-line support is provided to all end users.
  2. Banking Management System (BMS)/ Appraisal system users have the correct access roles to perform their specific tasks.
  3. All End User issues are attended to and responded to efficiently and effectively within a timeframe.
  4. All reports are generated and provided to users in a timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities

Core System
  • Maintain and enhance the Banks’ core systems, namely BMS, SUN Sytems, PayGlobal, Legal Searches System, Appraisal System, Customer Enquiry System and Online Customer Statement System.
  • Make changes to the BMS and other systems upon approved requests from Policy
    Department or end users.
  • Manage ICT Help Desk daily and make sure issues are attended to and resolved in the most efficient manner within the least turnaround time.
  • Identify areas in the Bank where processes can be automated to increase efficiency.
  • Make recommendations, plan and conduct feasibility studies of existing and proposed ICT projects in line with the Banks business objective.
  • Make programming modifications to existing host programs; enhance application
    programs; prepare user and system documentation.
  • Maintain and create users of the bank’s core systems.
  • Branch Visit for BMS training and general BMS Users issues.
  • End of Day and End of Month processing.
  • Responsible for making decisions on BMS-related issues as they come up, in some cases after consultation with the concerned department and BMS User Committee and/or Policy & Procedures Department.
  • Provide feedback and negotiate on strategic agreements that adversely affect the bank’s
    core systems, namely BMS.
  • Responsible for maintaining the data integrity of the bank’s core system.
Manage the Banks’ intranet and corporate websites
  • Create/ Maintain the Banks’ websites.
  • Ensure that the websites are easily navigable and accessible.
  • Provide strategic planning for marketing the Banks’ products/ services through the internet.
  • Provide means of accessibility to information such as circulars, policies, manuals, and reports to all staff through the intranet.
Database Administration and Reports
  • Ensure proper backups are done to the databases as required by the DRP/BCP.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the data.
  • Database design.
  • Ensures optimum Performance of Databases.
  • Development and testing of Database Objects.
  • Generate End of Month reports for the Finance Department to be submitted to the Reserve Bank of Fiji and Ministry of Finance.
  • Generate End of Month Reports (Dumps) for Business Analysts.
  • Generate ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Develop, implement and document new procedures.
  • Responsible for all BMS reporting to the Ministry of Finance, EXCO and Managers
    distributed in an accurate and timely manner. 
System Software Compliance
  • Monitoring access levels and documenting them for audit purposes.
  • Documenting all changes done to the current core system (Change Control Request).
  • Produce Systems Documentation for BMS and other related Business Applications.
  • Maintain contact with a broad spectrum of the Bank’s Staff to establish an ongoing
    dialogue, to ensure that day-to-day activities are monitored and users are aware of the
    current status of developments.
  • Responsible for checking data integrity issues with BMS, which are keyed in by other branches and departments and recommending ways to solve the issues. As IT issues are complex and vague, IT standards must be followed and procedures documented.
  • Assist the Manager ICT to develop, test and document Disaster Recovery Plans and
    Business Continuity Plans.
  • Highlight and document the Risk involved in the Implementation of new features
    enhancements or issue resolution.
  • Document user requirements for information technology projects and develop
    systems specifications to ensure that all projects meet those requirements.
  • Conduct research work to keep abreast of technology and make appropriate
    recommendations to the Manager of ICT.
  • Recommend changes to IT policies.
  • Make recommendations and propose projects in line with the bank’s strategy.
